Christmas Vacation 2011, December 20-22-Part One

This year we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA for our Christmas Vacation. We decided that the money we would put into Christmas presents would be better spent on memories. No worries, the kids are still getting Christmas presents but not to the extreme we have in the past.
The lodge has an indoor water park and because it was the Christmas holiday many activities were taking place. When we first arrived our hotel room wasn't ready so we decided to tour the site. The kids enjoyed looking at the water park and hanging out in the arcade.
The kids were excited about the hotel room. The boys had bunk beds and a tv. I liked the tall ceilings and that the wrists bands were the key to open the room.
Once we were settled in the room we decided to take the kids to the water park. They were very excited! Emily was fearless going down the water slides in the kids section.
The next morning we wanted the kids to participate in the Santa University which would allow them to be "official elves". At 9 am the kids attended a walk around the lobby that taught them about wolves and other animals. Eric was surprised at how attentive Ben was. I told him this is how he acts at school too. Completely different child. Joey had a hard time paying attention but eventually got in the swing of it. Emily would want to participate and so she would sit for a moment and then run around. They learned a lot and were excited.
The kids went to Santa's workshop where they colored pictures, made snowflakes and wrote Santa letters. This helped them graduate from the "Santa University". They received official certificates.
We bought the kids magic wands which allowed them to demo the game that was around the hotel. Dad had to by little girl a wand too so she could participate. I think they enjoyed the game more than they did the water park. We attended the water park again and Joey loved the water slides. Ben hated the lines so as long as he could be in the water he was happy. Once again people were surprised with how much Emily loved the water.
We then went to dinner and the kids were able to get Wolf Ears with dinner. Emily showed us her bubbling personality once more. The waitress asked Eric and I if we wanted water and we said yes, and then she asked Ben and he said yes. We weren't paying attention to Emily she had pushed her cup forward, which was completely full, and said me too. When the waitress walked away it dawned on me what she had said. She put her little hands up like "what just happened" and then she put out her lip, covered her face, and said "it's not fair!" We laughed so hard. After we went to see Santa and then listen to a story around the clock tower and then snowflakes fell from the lodge. It was great! On the way back to the hotel room Eric bought the boys swords that looked like light sabers and Emily a little purse. (Which she has not put down in two days)
The next morning we had to check out by 11 am so we went swimming for an hour and a half. Eric was exhausted by Joey taking him on the water slides. I couldn't take him since I am almost 6 month pregnant. Ben was excited to cross the lily pads holding on to a rope. We then checked out, got snacks and headed on out. It was a wonderful trip.
