Isaac's March 17, 2012

Isaac decided to come 4 weeks early which actually worked pretty well with the plan of the moons. All of my kids have been born on the same sliver of moon except the girl was facing the other direction. Isaac was the same way. I woke up on the morning Saturday March 17th to a gush and wet pants. I freaked. I didn’t think I had wet my pants because an hour earlier I had gotten Eric off to work and had went potty. I called Eric, at around 7:00 a.m., he didn’t answer. I called my mom and asked her if she had her water break, she said no and to go to the labor and delivery. I called them instead. They said to come in right away. I called my friend and said my husband isn’t responding to texts or calls could you watch the kids. She said I will drive you and my husband will watch the kids. I hadn’t started contracting yet. After getting off the phone with her I called Eric again and he answered and then freaked too. He decided to come and get me and my friends took the kids. It was the ideal situation. We left about 8 am and Eric picked the kids up about 5 pm. We got to the hospital and I wasn’t even dilated more than a one or two. They decided to give me pitocin to speed it up. I finally started getting light contractions and they told me I could have an epidural whenever I wanted so I did. I was only like a two or three but why not? Then within an hour I was an eight and trying to hold the baby in. They came in and I was trying not to push. The dr came in and he told me to push twice and he was out. This time it was the most painful of the pushes out of all of my kids because I actually felt him coming through. The epidural had started to wear off. The epidural was the easiest too because the guy had me sit up. I made myself worried about the delivery and epidural I almost passed out twice. I was working on school work I had two weeks left and luckily I had gotten week ahead. When Isaac was born they said he had a true knot in the umbilical cord and that not only was he lucky because he was born on St. Patrick’s day but because very few babies survive a true knot if they are full term. If he would have been born later he may not have survived. It is truly a blessing. However because he was born early and I may have been leaking amniotic fluid they decided to give him antibotics through the iv. They were also worried he had an infection in his little lungs because he was squeaking when he breathed. They called him pip squeak. We call him squeaker. He cried more when he was cold and undressed then when he had his blood drawn and iv. We ended up in Nicu for one treatment it was horrible to see the little babies and I am so blessed we weren’t in their permanently. We ended up on the pediatric wing. I wanted to go home so bad. It was the first time I had to stay more than 24 hours in the hospital. I had been released but the baby hadn’t. So Eric and I traded off and on when he visited. He took a break and I took the kids to the play area. Emily was sick with a horrible cough and runny nose and ended up giving it to Isaac so we have to watch him for RSV. He had his circumsion and I was there. It was the worse thing I had experienced for a baby. I held his hand while they had him bound and at one point he turned white so I know it had to be painful even though they said he couldn’t feel it. We decided that my prepration of getting the baby in the right spot made my water break.I have a high cervix so I always have a hard time getting my cervix to thin. This time I would lean over a ball or sit on it for about 20 minutes twice a day.

Isaac Samuel Edwards was 6.67 19 ½ inches on March 17 2012 at 2:12 He is healthy. I was released Monday and my parents came to visit us on Wednesday. It was nice to have their help. We did a lot and I think I may have done too much. I currently have horrible muscle spasms and I have to take more medicine until my back feels better. Eric is home for another week, thank goodness.

Isaac was blessed Sunday March 25, 2012. My dad stood in the circle I was so happy. It was a beautiful blessing given my Eric. Our friend Joel Ockey stood in the circle as well. My Grandpa Jim and Grandma Virginia and my cousin Jacky and Uncle Brian attended the blessing as well.

Isaac was also tongue tied but we had his tongue clipped. They said he didn’t even cry. The kids came to visit in the hospital and were so excited to have a new little brother. They were especially excited that he had got them new toys. I am no longer embarrassed to say I have four children. In fact I am proud to be a mother because most people do not want four children. But we want, love and can take care of them and I am proud of that.
