Ben's 6th Birthday April 24, 2012

Ben had his 6^th birthday this year. His birthday fell on a Tuesday which his dad worked. We asked him if he wanted to celebrate his birthday on Tuesday or wait until Wednesday when dad could be there. He said Wednesday so his dad could be there. I think he liked being able to celebrate his birthday two days in a row. His picture showed on KNDU news and he went to school and was able to hand out goody bags. He was also student of the week and he got a present from his teacher. A crown, pencil and he was really excited that he received strips that spelled out Happy Birthday.   He was able to open one present. He chose to open Grandma Jill’s which was a Mickey Mouse Club house toy.  The next day he woke up to balloons, streamers and Mario characters on the wall. He was excited. He was presented with a present from Joey which was star wars lego and a birthday boy badge.  He then went to school, and came home and opened a present from Aunt Sums, Guinny, Bells and Uncle Jonathan. It was a hand made in door hop scotch. Next he opened a present from Aunt Susan and Uncle Brian, Jacky and Jacob. It was a hex bug (which is really creepy, crawly) and some handsome clothes.   He then opened a present from Grandma Penny and Grandpa Pat which was $20.00 and Ninja Turtle toy. He got a card from Grandma Paula and Grandpa George, and a Card with $15.00 from Great Grandpa Mel, Great Grandma Rosie and Great Uncle Travis. He opened his present from Rose, Riley and Aunt Sara which was a Crayola Cutter. The last present he opened was star wars lego set from his sister Emily . He then went to lunch with Dad at Pizza Hut and then went to toys r us to spend his money.  He purchased a Mario brothers lego track set.  When he got home he dad opened the garage and Ben found a bike.  He really is excited about it even though the picture doesn’t look like it. He realized it was much faster than his scooter. We went on a walk so he could use his bike and then we had cake. He wanted a Super Mario brother galaxy cake. Which mom and dad tried hard to make. Isaac gave him the toys on the cake.  He said he had a great birthday!

Emily's 2nd Birthday April 18, 2012

We celebrated Emily's 2nd birthday on April 17, because Daddy worked on her birthday. She was grumpy when she first woke up because mom took her out of her pajamas and then she didn't want to wear any clothes. Mom gave up and Dad and Emily chose a dress. She whined most of the way down the stairs and the she saw balloons and her happy day began. We try to give a present every couple of hours, and to start out Joey gave her the princess bean bag chair.
She got pink heart waffles, as part of her “pinkalcious day”, for breakfast, We had to wait for Ben to get out of school before we let Emily open any more presents, but Mom snuck in a present from Isaac. He gave her a couple of pinkalicious books. She then opened Grandma Jill’s present, a toy clock. She had to fight her way to play with it becaused the boys kept touching. Next she opened Aunt Sum’s and family present. A beautiful handmade dress by Sums, a hair bow, and pinkalicious book. She next opened a present from Ben, a toy Barbie car, and Aunt Sara and Family got her a bunch of pinkalicious books. Grandma Penny and Grandpa Pat got her a minnie purse and a Rapunzel table set, which dad taught her to put on her head. Mom and Dad got her a toy car, which she saw and was really excited to get and then she got over to the car she saw the new chalk and wasn’t interested in the car anymore. She had a pinkalicious cupcake cake (I know that is my last attempt at making cakes). She went to blow out the candles and her bangs caught on fire. Glad it wasn't worse than singed. Overall she had a good birthday.

This morning Emily and Isaac were up early and we had to wake up Ben and Joey in order for the Easter items not to be torn into. The boys were afraid the Easter Bunny forgot them because he left the baskets in a different spot then he normally does. I think it was because of an active little Sister. The kids were excited with the items that the got. Joey told Mom a couple of weeks ago that he wanted the Easter Bunny to bring him really nice crayons. Ben wanted as many toys as he could, of course. Joey was very excited to get his nice crayons. Joey got a Yoshi Mario Brothers movie, nice crayons, a coloring book, 2 gold eggs with $1.00 in each, battle force five cars. Emily got 2 gold eggs with $1.00 in each, a pink bunny rabbit (which she picked out at the store) a mickey mouse book, and little Einstein’s dvd. Ben got 2 gold eggs with $1.00 in each, Battle force five cars and movie, a star wars game for his leap frog and a ninjago reading book. Isaac got a big stuffed lion and a teething toy.

The kids The kids participated in two Easter egg hunts on Saturday. They went to the primary aged kids Easter Egg hunt, not put on by the ward but by the old primary president. She had done it last year so it was nice to have it done again this year. The kids had a blast. They told the kids to go and Emily just started running but she didn’t know why. It was cute. When all was said and done I was looking for Joey because all of the kids were gathered in a group looking inside the eggs. I look over in the distance by the house and Joey is at the table eating and drinking orange juice. Only my little Joey would find food more interesting than his candy. The second Easter egg hunt we went to at a friends and Emily knew what she was looking for. Ben was taking charge on the trampoline with about 6 kids. They were older and listening to him. I was trying to figure out if he was being bossy or persuasive but I think it was the latter. The kids were so excited. Ben came home from the first hunt and divided his candy evenly between mom, dad and himself. When we told him to keep the candy because he could have it for days to come he basically said that sharing made him happy. Grandma Jill and Aunt Sara sent the kids a fun box for Easter. I originally had a picture of each of the kids with the binky teeth but my camera didn’t save it. So for an early birthday present I had to go and buy a camera. Does it surprise anyone I had to buy another camera. Aarrggghhh. Oh well. It was a good week. Eric goes back to work tomorrow and I am not ready for him to go. It was nice to have him off for 3 weeks. I am nervous about taking Ben to school all on my own and being alone with 4 kids for the first time.
