This week I had sick kids again. This time it is a horrible cold. Out of everything that Emily has been dealing with, her lungs, and ears this cold has been by far the worse for her. She cannot get comfortable and I can't give her anything because she is too little. I am trying the little noses spray, and vicks on the feet and chest. Not to mention a humidifier. But I don't have any other ideas what I can do for her. Poor baby. I haven't had much rest from her and I am really wishing that she was better. The boys have had colds too.
We celebrated April Fool's Day as Sillyday instead. Benji was excited to participate but he didn't want to wear his clothes silly out in public. Joey didn't really want to do any of it. He just wanted to be silly by walking backwards and I wasn't allowed to get any pictures him doing so.
I am attempting to plant a garden this year. It is part of my being thrifty with my coupons. Which I think I have started saving $200 a month. But I really only started counting for 1 month so I can't really use that as a base. I am trying to do it in pots instead of the ground. We are going to do landscaping next spring and I don't want to tear up the grass and then decide next year I want my garden in a different spot.
The boys wanted Danino yogurt and since I had a coupon I got some. Even better was they came with little seed packets and the boys were able to plant seeds for the first time. That was a good little science project for the week.

This week has been an exhausting week for me.
I ended up in the Emergency Room with Emily about 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. We didn’t make it home until midnight. She had a 104.3 temperature which is the highest temperature that any of my babies have had so I decided to take her in. When we left they told me that she possibly had a U.T.I, she had puss pockets on her throat and the onset of Pnuemonia. On the bright side her ears looked good. Eric’s friend Nathan had come into town from SLC while we were in the ER. When I came home Eric and Nate gave Emily a Priesthood blessing. The next morning I had to take her to the pediatrician for a follow up. The pediatrician said her lungs sounded great and he had no reason to believe from the x-ray that she had pneumonia. I love the power of the priesthood. However, she still was sick with a virus. Then Thursday night I came home from school to find Eric holding Ben and Ben sobbing hysterically that he was sick. Benjamin ended up with a high fever 102.6 and I had to give him three nebulizer treatments throughout the night. He was wheezing. So Friday morning I called to get him in. The dr. said that when he immediately saw Ben he could tell he was having a hard time breathing because the way his throat was sucking in. He was concerned he had pneumonia and so he did x-rays. Ben was excited because they let him see his x-rays. He does not have pneumonia but he is concerned he has an upper respiratory disease. He uses the word disease because he says that heseems to get this every year around this time. If not his next concern is asthma. He is on a steroid and on the bottle it says that this medicine lowers your ability to fight off infections so avoid people who may be sick. So I am keeping him away from everyone. Joey started presenting a cough as well but I think he had the fever before Emily did. I think he has a higher tolerance level that is why I didn’t really notice him being sick.

Thursday night I had an incident in class that really upset me. The lead student had brought cookies to class and towards the end they were passing cookies around and I asked for some and they sent them to our table. During this time other people started talking and I was too and this kid yelled at me and said you are being so disrespectful and rude while this other person is talking. I just wanted to yell back at him (not cry this time). But I couldn’t because it is BYU-I and I am better than that, right? My friend apologized and said we are sorry for being disrespectful. But I was so upset at him. Because he can’t tell me I am disrespectful when moments earlier him and the person he was defending were on the computer building blue prints for a play airplane for one of their online games. Not to mention he is always on WOW during the class. So that is why I was so mad.
I had a relief society birthday dinner on Tuesday night. I took Ben and Emily because that was the day Joey was acting sick. Emily wouldn’t go with the girls in the Nursery so she stayed with me and Ben had fun in nursery. When we were leaving Ben was offered a treat. It was the flower pot desserts where it is pudding, oreo cookie, and a gummy worm, made to look like a flower. He looked at the lady and said “I don’t eat dirt!” We all laughed and she told him what it was and he still couldn’t grasp the concept because of what it looked like he politely said, “no thank you, I don’t eat dirt.” Silly boy.
So Eric’s friends were in town this weekend and I got to hang out with them for a little bit. Saturday night I went and watched my friend play her guitar and she was awesome. She wrote her own songs too. I was so glad I could go watch her.
So I missed church and might continue to skip Sunday’s until Emily isn’t sick anymore. I have been in the Dr.’s office once a week for 6 months. I am tired of it not to mention it is getting expensive. But we finally scheduled her to get tubes in her ears for April 13th. I am nervous but I really think we have no other option.
I was able to put Emily’s hair into her first ponytail.
I know you are wondering why I have a picture of the boys eating cupcakes. If any of you know Ben he doesn’t have much of a variety when it comes to food. In the past I would make banana bread and he wouldn’t try it. So I made banana bread cupcakes and zucchini bread cupcakes and frosted them and he has no clue. I call them BB cupcakes and ZB cupcakes. He loves them. Who hoo for me!
Joey and me acted out the story of the three little pigs. Emily was the big bad wolf. He is hiding under a blanket which is a house of straw and behind the couch is his brick house and he is safe from the big bad wolf, Emily.
We also had a science project where we warmed up apples and was trying to figure out what heat will do to apples. Joey was very excited to mash the apples.
Me and Joe were playing store and Ben didn't want to play with us. Joey has his very own wallet and he drove to the store and picked out his groceries scanned them in and then bagged them and drove home. He had fun and it must have looked too fun because then Ben wanted to play also. It was a fun week as well.

This week we seemed to have a lot of Dr. visits. I had a tooth break on Tuesday night and luckily the dentist was able to fix it on Wednesday. Joey had an appointment to see the speech therapist this week to see if he needs speech therapy. But I woke up in the morning feeling like I didn’t need to take Joey. I felt after his pediatrician appointment 2 weeks ago that he has really made an improvement and I think the pediatrician is right, Joey will outgrow it and he is just a tad slower on speech.
I traced the boy’s bodies on butcher paper and gave them the task of coloring their bodies. Joey started coloring and got bored, but I was really impressed with Ben. He added major details of what he was wearing. It is really cute.
Ben was playing with stuffed animals and he put them in his shirt. I then came around the corner and he had put some in Emily’s shirt too. He wanted a picture of both of them together. It was adorable.
I was trying to figure out how to teach Ben to remember his phone number. We made up a song to “this is the way we brush our teeth,” using our phone number. I also bribed him with food. He counted out each of the fish crackers for the number he was using.
Eric found out that Em loves oranges. Two days ago Emily climbed two stairs and then Ben showed her how to climb the stairs and she snuck up stairs. It scared me I hadn’t even left her for a minute. I will need to try and find a way to block the bottom of the stairs because the baby gate doesn’t work because of the stair railing.

This week I failed to take a lot of pictures. We had an activity where we took dyed spaghetti and threw it on paper and made some type of art. Although it didn’t really turn out to be art but the kids still had fun.
Emily will be getting tubes put in her ears. I thought she was doing well because she was sleeping better and acting fine but she started pulling on her ears. The pediatrician said her ears look horrible. So we have to go back to the ENT and he will set another date. Hopefully we can get her cleared up before her birthday.
Family movie night was fun again. I looked forward to it all week. I even collected candy for it.
I was able to hang out with my friend Melissa on Saturday. Me and Em went to lunch with her. I even took her on her first coupon trip. I hope she liked it.
Well I guess I need to take more pictures this week so I can remember what to write for my blog.

This was the only way we could keep Emily away from the spaghetti art.

Notice is the baby in the background trying as hard as she can to get in to play with the boys.

Every time the boys play outside she will stare out the screen door. It is so cute.

This week Benji was fascinated with the black hole after watching the movie “Mega Mind." So we learned about Black holes, and then Eric was teaching him about the solar system.
We also redesigned the Recreation room. It isn’t as much a playroom anymore as it is a spot where the family likes to gather. I like the feel of the room and the boys do too. I love that the couch turns into a futon bed. I slept on it last night and it was more comfortable than our guest bed.

One night the boys put flashlights in their sippy cups for bed. (Don’t worry they weren’t filled with liquid). I thought it looked really cool. It reminded me of Disneyland.
I had so many requests from friends, and part of my goal for my pathway program was to dive into my couponing, so I started a blog. I know most of you have seen it. http://mommalovestocoupon.com. I basically separated it from my family blog because I don’t want everyone seeing my family. But I am really excited. When people click on my ads I earn money. I know it isn’t much but I earned $6.00 in one week from people clicking on ads. I don’t get paid until a $100.00 so if you are feeling helpful you could click on my ads.

I really wanted to get rid of Sadie, I don’t have time for her and she is as needy as the children. But then I watch Ben and Joey playing with her nicely and I am so happy that they get to experience that friendship between them and their dog.
I wanted to see if Em would try and walk because Ben was already walking at this age. But she wasn’t too interested. I am actually happy about that.
I am trying to do movie night every Saturday night and the boys really like the new room.

Sunday February 27, 2011

Hi this week the Edwards family had a couple of simple things that we did. Most of the pictures are just random pictures that I wanted to remember.
The boys did an art project this week. They liked it so much we did it three separate days. We took a roll of paper towels. Then we took some cups and filled them with water and food coloring. Then we tore off one paper towel. Folded it to a smaller size and dipped the corner of the paper towel in the water and then opened it and let it dry. It was really fun and not too much of a mess. They liked to see all the tie dyed towels and it entertained them for about half an hour. It would have been longer but I didn’t want to go through an entire roll of towels.
One of the videos is of Ben and he is showing Emily her book and asking her questions like “what do you see in the picture?” It is so cute to see them interact. He really likes to protect her.
In another video Joey is dancing to Umizoomi.
I watched my friend’s Melissa’s little girl one day this week and she is so cute. She really gets along great with the boys. Emily followed her all over the place. It was too cute.
I had class on Thursday night and I was in charge of leading the discussion for about 27 students. It ended up being horrible for me. I came home very discouraged and never wanting to teach again. The class is usually supposed to last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I think we lasted 25 minutes. I didn’t get any response from the students. The people that I was relying on to carry the discussion were quiet. I would like to think it was because they were filling their mouth full of my yummy cookies I was bribing them with. I was leading the discussion on goals. I told them about my goal of getting food storage and couponing which inspired me to start a section of a couponing blog. I have gotten a lot of awesome deals in two weeks. I hope you will check out my couponing portion of the blog.
Friday I went out to do more couponing and it is amazing how some checkers (the majority) are nice and will help you out with couponing and others will do everything they can to thwart any effort being made. If I hadn’t read the krazy coupon lady’s book, I think I would have let her push me around and would have sworn off coupons. But I realized it is something that I could handle and I did. I was really proud of myself. I didn’t post it but I got a year’s supply of tampons for $10.21. These were the platex brand too.
Emily’s coat broke and most of the stores have put up their stock. So my mom was awesome and sent Emily a beautiful coat. Every place we stopped she got a compliment. Also while I was out shopping I stopped off at the bank and got succors. So when we got home Emily had her first succor. She wasn’t sure what to think about it.
Three of the videos are from last week except I couldn’t get them to post, so they are on this week’s blog.
