10-21-2012 Howl n Scram, Pumpkin Patch

It never feels like we do much as a family until I look back over three weeks of pictures and realize we have done a lot.  I have a pics that were taken just because they were cute and others really do have a purpose.  I read about doing Sunday Stations with your kids to help them keep the Sabbath day holy. One of the pics where the kids are in Isaac room was one where Joseph and Ben were assigned to entertain baby and sister and then switch. It works really well and they love getting to play with their siblings.
We set up Halloween on the first day of the month. We found old costume and surprisingly the boys were more interested in hanging up decorations than trying on their past costumes. However, Emily tried on her past costumes, as well as a dance costume from when I was 15.
We had the best general conference at the beginning of the month. It was the first time in 4 years Eric had the weekend off. I got some great idea on pinterest that really helped and I will be doing this again. I have never been able to convince my kids to stick around for all 4 sessions until this go around. We had candy that we set up and every time they heard a word they got a piece of candy. They loved it, especially when they had a theme that was talked about a lot in one talk. I was really happy I didn’t do a candy jar on Missionaries J
We went to the pumpkin patch this year and the kids loved it. They enjoyed racing each other in the hay maze, climbing the hay towers, and looking at the animals. They even enjoyed picking pumpkins, even though they got rained on. It was a fun trip.
We also participated in the howl in scram. Emily, is Pinkalicious, Ben is the green ninja from ninjago and Joseph is a G.I. Joe.  They participated in the Halloween costume but the three prizes won, were all characters from Dr. Suess.  Emily ran first, ¼ mile. Mom ran with her and she wanted to turn around when the kids passed her but we ran the entire way and she loved running to daddy when she was almost to the finish line.  Then Ben and Joey ran, they ran ½ a mile. Ben came in 2nd place and Joseph ran his little heart out. All of the kids won shirts (which mom and dad buy but they don’t know that). Emily wanted to run again after the boys ran, so daddy ran with her to the car. The kids had fun. It was a good day.

It has been a couple of weeks since I posted in our blog.   I have a lot of random pictures that I just wanted to take.  To clarify about the video this was not taken during Sacrament meeting it was during program practice on Saturday.  We were supposed to go to Sacajawea Heritage Days with Home link for school on Friday but we all ended up with the flu.   Thursday we finally took the kids back to Hermiston to golf. Ben has been begging for about a year to go back to Hermiston for that reason. We took him and about the third hole in he puked everywhere. He cried because he waited this long to golf and for Heritage days.
Dan came to visit last weekend and we went to the Local Sausage Fest, I think that is what it was called. The kids had fun, Emily wanted to get her hair colored pink. My mom made the fluffy pink dress which we are going to make her Halloween costume. We will color her hair pink, dress her in the dress and give her a wand. She will be pinkalicious for Halloween.  We had a science project that Ben had to figure out that a solid is a solid even if its shape is changed. We used play dough. The kids had a blast; mom did not enjoy picking up the mess off the floor though.
Earlier this week Emily was outside playing, she hadn’t had a nap. She was running around on the drive way and she was tired, tripped and fell and landed on her face. I thought she broke her teeth even more. Luckily she didn’t.  She just scrapped her face really bad and had a fat lip.

This week has been busy. Labor day we went to a bbq at a friends house .The kids had a lot of fun playing with their friends.   Tuesday was the first day of school for us.  I am homeschooling and first grade for us is 3 hours a day versus almost 7 hours at public school.  Tuesday was also the first day of ballet class. All boys first year ballet receive an entire year free. How could I pass up this opportunity. Joey was so excited he even practiced on his own the next day. Ben didn’t want to go. He cried before we left the house saying it was a nightmare but he was awake.  After class he said he liked it and wanted to go again.  We also put our house on the market for sale. We are going to see if we can get the equity out of it and better our living circumstances so we don’t live pay check to pay check.  Joseph’s birthday was Thursday but we celebrated his 5th birthday on Friday because his dad was off that day.  Friday Joseph woke up to puppy balloons and streamers. He opened five gifts for being five. At 1:11 p.m. we had birthday cake on the time he was born.  He told me that he wanted a strawberry cake with strawberry, blueberries, and puppies on top.  At least he likes good food. Which he wanted for his birthday dinner Olive Garden (I gave him the option of McDonald and Burger King for the play area) we also went to toys r us and they recognized him in the store he was really excited.
