The End of our following the Columbia River Adventure September 29 and 30

Life has been extremely busy these past couple of weeks. Since our trip to Portland I haven't been able to make any posts. So I am playing catch up. On our trip exploring along the columbia river we attended the Portland Zoo and Discovery Museum. Both were fun. We first attended the zoo. Within the first 10 minutes we had a first aid accident. Benji was so excited he was running and fell on the cobblestones. Pretty crummy place to fall. He got pretty scraped up on his knees, chest and arms. Luckily mom had all of the necessary supplies to help him feel better. The boys really liked seeing the animals at the zoo. Dad bought all the kids stuffed animals. It was a fun trip.
Then we went to the OMSI Science center. We started out in the older kids science area hoping that when the kids got tired we could move to the area that is specifically for them. So we played in an area with balls that was for 6 years on up. It happened to be the best and most fun place for the children. They were able to learn a lot of new things.However, we were very disappointed in the preschool area it was no more fun than going to the Discovery Museum in our hometown. If any of you have been to it you know what I mean.
All in all it was a fun trip had by all, except for getting lost in Portland because of all the detours and a GPS that wasn't up to date. But I guess I didn't have to mention that did I.

He started to calm down but then he told us that his arm hurt, so I lifted up his sleeve and it was bleeding and mom said "It is bleeding," He freaked out! It would have been much worse if he hadn't had the jacket on.

This was right before Joey happened to put his knee on the spinning table which then knocked out from under him and made his face land right on the spinning table. Cut his mouth open which you will see later on in some of the pictures. Come on they each had to have an accident :)

Our Day trip on the way to Portland Oregon

Our trip to Disneyland was delayed this year so we decided to take a mini vacation to Portland, Oregon. We stared out and after about an hour in the car we stopped at Stonehenge. This was amazing to see an exact replica of the Stonehenge found in England. However, the great thing is that this was still standing and we could actually go inside and look around. The boys enjoyed the maze like structure.
We then went to the Maryhill Museum. This was a beautiful building. It was hardest museum for the boys to go in. Everything was so tempting to touch, like the anything that the Queen of Romania had displayed. However, upstairs was a little room for the boys to play in that was neat. A floor was dedicated to real life dolls, and comic book art. As we were walking to the van a film crew stopped us. They were filming some kind of program to show how their wind farms work for the museum. It should be on a Siemens website soon. We didn’t do much except be ourselves.
We were able to see Mt. Hood in the distance. What a wonderful view of such a beautiful creation from our Heavenly Father.
We then drove a little bit farther down the road about another 45 minutes and stopped for lunch at none other than, wait for it, McDonalds. This had to of been the highlight of Ben and Joey’s afternoon, even though they didn’t have a play place.
Once we were back on the road it took us about 15 minutes to arrive at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum. This Museum held the boys attention a little bit better. They were excited that they had a manmade waterfall on the inside as well as an airplane hanging from the roof. It was made up of a lot of different pieces. This was one of my favorite museums. As we were leaving we were talking with the lady at the front desk and she suggested that we check out Multnomah Falls. She said we would be disappointed if we missed it.
With the advice of the lady we arrived at Multnomah Falls in Oregon about 20 minutes later. I think out of the entire day this was my favorite site. I was amazed. With Eric’s back hurting and Emily asleep in the stroller the boys and I decided to race to the top where the bridge was and wave to daddy. It was amazing and I would love to go back.
So far this has been an amazing day and trip. I told Eric that every time that I got tired of the activity and the day we went on to the next adventure and it was just as exciting. This was such a fun day! Yours truly the Edwards family.
